Life in Pandemic and Lockdown

The world cannot stop, the belief we had and practiced was overturned a year ago in an ironic way when a tiny invisible virus stopped this mighty world. No one could have predicted that this will take the whole world by storm; taking lives of people like a global war and changing the lifestyle of the whole world by restricting them to their homes. These are challenging times, there is no denying. This pandemic, no doubt is one of the greatest threats ever faced by the world. But we are advised to find good in every situation.
Being a college student, I was tired of my hectic life and I wanted a relief. As the pandemic worsened, a worldwide lockdown was imposed giving people a break from their daily lives. At first, it felt impossible to sit at home without being bored but I guess social media and technology made it easier for people to cope with it. Despite all its negatives, this pandemic brought families closer. From everyone hardly seeing each other daily because of different schedules of work and school to having the whole family sitting together at the table during the meals, from spending few hours with each other at the weekend that too preoccupied with work to spending a quality free time with family every evening at tea with heartfelt conversations, from engaging in fights with your siblings to caring for them even more.
Apart from a quality time with family and knowing each other better, I spent time watching movies and TV series to experience certain feelings and learn different things, playing online games with my friends and reminiscing the memories we had together been taken away by busy life. Having conversations considering ourselves as significant figures in history and how we will tell our children that we survived a global pandemic with smiles on our faces and proud feelings inside us, might be one of the memories that will always bring smile on our faces.
But for some people, it only brought destruction. The poor people who earned from hand to mouth were most affected because of lockdown because they had no means to feed their families. It was a time for privileged people to show their kindness and I can say this proudly the support shown by people by charity and distributing monthly food packages was overwhelming. Hearing stories of underprivileged people made me emotional and getting prayers from them made me thank Allah for his countless blessings and to realize how privileged we are.
People have lost their loved ones in this pandemic. It took some of the healthy lively people and smiling faces of our family to the gloomy beds in a painful hospital atmosphere. And the unexpected deaths of people very dear to us were unbearable. The warmth of the touch of loved ones does wonders to the sick people even more than medicines and treatment. In this pandemic, there is nothing more heartbreaking than not being near to your loved ones lying helplessly and to stare at them from a glass window at a distance. You cannot touch them but still love is there in that distance of few feats, they can feel it. It can be felt even from thousand miles apart. Love is the only thing that transcends the dimensions of time and space. It is formidable and powerful. I hope this pandemic ends soon so people have at least one less pain in this painful world. They do not have the regret of not being near to their loved ones in their final time and to bury them without touching them.
Regards,
Saad
