The impact of Covid19 and lockdown on my life.

Greetings to all,
Here today I’m writing my first blog ever on a topic that we can now all relate to and know about, you might even find my experience quite similar to yours. Here’s my experience with the ongoing pandemic and my time in lockdown.
Going back to 2019 when I first heard about corona, I did not pay any heed to it at all, not to sound insensitive but I thought it was just another disease that’ll be cured, little did I know that this monster came to stay, an uninvited guest with no intentions of leaving soon.
Covid19 struck the world with such a force that it has still not recovered from it. It has been unexpected and brutal. The lockdown slowed down everything, forced me to change the way I lived, my social life and impacted my mental health. There was monotony, fear and uncertainty around and rising death tolls. It became our new normal.
Thinking back of the start of 2020, when the horrors of the pandemic began in Pakistan and the frightening impact it had became well known, I was in my final year of college and a student who started studying a month before the exams ( a month is a stretch too but saying this to avoid further embarrassment) I was very stressed out. Anxiety was at its peak. The uncertainty about the board exams being conducted or not, added to the anxiety and stress. But then our educational minister saved the day and announced the cancelation of the exams. I had literally followed news like I would follow my favorite suspense thriller series! Months later university started and that too online. Just as this pandemic affected economic systems worldwide, it affected educational systems too. I hope post pandemic we work on digital learning more and incorporate it in our educational systems better to combat crises like these.
The lockdown brought about some positive changes in our lives too, the break that we all wanted was now forced on us. With all the free time on my hands I was able to ponder upon little things I took for granted, things of great importance that I had left behind forgotten which deserved my time and attention. It made me realize the importance of actually appreciating the things and people that we take for granted. It has taught me what the spirit of togetherness is and giving a helping to others and helping where one can.
I realized how important it is to celebrate our little wins, our good times, with the people that matter. There is no need to go for extravagant celebrations. I learnt that sometimes things don’t happen the way we want them to but acceptance is the key, and fate really does play its part.
So no matter how tough and testing these times are, I assure you together we can battle it all, just have faith and hang in there.
