Never have I seen
Such a mess in life
Roads are empty
But it is impossible to
go on long drive
Friends have time to
sit together but they cannot
get together.
A world full of irony
Be positive but
test negative.

2020 was a brand new year and it seemed to be off to a rough start. It was the end of February and I was preparing for my exams. Every day in the morning I saw my classmates discussing about corona virus in China and I used to think that it is normal or casual disease and everything is going to be fine within a week or two but I was wrong. This virus changed my life totally. I never ever dreamt to live such a life by limiting myself to my home. Birthdays, holidays and religious observances are often moments to gather; however, the corona virus pandemic has made every event same.

The virus has totally changed family relationships. It has limited our communication to phones only. The members of the family who were overseas are still stuck there. My father also lives overseas and it has been a year we have not met him. Whenever he decides to come back the flights get banned and when the flights resume he has to look after his business again. Moreover, I have seen the people that are jobless and their families are living from hand to mouth. 3 months ago I just met my college bus driver. He was driving a rickshaw. I asked him why he’s doing so he just broke into tears. He told that he has been jobless since last year and his family was living in the worse condition. So he bought a rickshaw from his savings and some loans and now earning his livelihood. So we gave him some donations. This is only one case. There will be millions of cases all over the world like this.

Sometimes I feel like I am doing a job and I want to scream and just run out the door but I can’t because I need this job. I see so many people coming in and out. So many of them are suffering as bad as I am and some who are even worse. It tears me up inside but also reminds me that I have to keep on fighting through this.

The hospitals are getting stricter with their rules and regulations. Public administrators, police officers, firefighters, paramedics, medical staff, local delivery drivers, food industry specialists, and other essential members of the industry are to be commended for their intrepid efforts. Despite the threat of infection and drawn-out absence from their families, they bravely serve their communities with intense focus and undying adherence to their professional oath. Most have been working for weeks without a break. At this pace, no human can effectively sustain quality outputs of labor. This virus is a curse that has uprooted my life and taken so much out of me. But also I hope that everything is going to be alright in the future as Allah Almighty is the best planner. We are in this together and we will get through this together Inshallah.

Yours sincerely,
