My lockdown Experience

Greetings All,
Here's my story
On March 13, 2020, we were in our university classroom for Environmental Science’ lecture, where we were studying climate change. Our instructor told us about a virus initially named as China Virus which was spreading somewhere in China. We studied its impacts if it would spread in the whole Middle East region. Everything was running smoothly. Same day, after 2’o’clock we rushed towards our hostel rooms and got notified that everyone has to leave university premises and hostels need to be emptied on emergency basis till further notification because the China virus is going to spread in the whole world. Each one of us got scared and went back to our homes.
The lockdown period begun. Government announced lockdown in the whole country. Some workplaces were fully closed, and rest were partially opened. People were meant to stay inside their homes. Unfortunately, people did not take it serious until virus attacked their loved ones and death rate started increasing gradually.
Our experience being a student was the worst as well as the best experience ever. Of course, government announced online education system to be started soon after a week. The biggest chaos was initiated by this decision. For the first time we were not in our direct conversation with our instructors, advisors, and colleagues. Screen-time got increased. Sitting in front of laptop from 8am to 4pm and remaining online all the time was difficult task in the beginning. Anyhow, we got used to such environment. The whole semester was spent in huge confusion.
Moving on, this whole hustle and bustle left me in stage III depression. Thinking about my destination and choosing a career and immediately sent back to home; how I felt after experiencing such "natural attributes". I just lost my passion as I was afraid of failure since I heard about online exams for the first time. I left studying because my instructors could not understand my logics for the projects and assignments because of lack of direct conversation. This fear had changed my whole path for career. One day, I decided to plan for future. Prior to this, from start of lockdown I was completely submerged in confusion. Those were the worst six months of my life but of course family was the biggest support. I decided to change my core subjects after doing research about the previous pandemic and its after impacts. I then chose Aerospace and told myself that only way to live now is to accept the reality and then competing with the world in the same way as era is moving forward. The whole technological advancement and such machine miracles are leaving us in the feet of computers.
2020 was of course a challenging year but 2021 is running smoothly because this lockdown has made me much mature. I have started accepting realities of life, time and have learnt the ways to cope with the problems. We should understand that although this COVID-period has created lot problems but “Every cloud has a silver lining”. This time shall pass, too.
Sincerely,
Tooba,
