Psychological effects I faced during COVID 19

Post by Abdullah asif »

Dear All,
The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a pathology induced by a new coronavirus, severe acute
respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). To date, there is no precise treatment for this
infection. Therefore, prevention measures such as frequent hand washing, keeping physical distance,
and wearing face masks have widely implemented. Following World Health Organization (WHO)
recommendations, most countries implement lockdown policies for all citizens except for essential
services. COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown measures caused psychological distress in the youth.
The reduction in physical activities is also an extreme challenge we all are facing. I faced stress due to
disruptive routine changes and some other common impacts, including disturbed eating behaviors such
as increased comfort food consumption, eating in response to stress and boredom, snacking after
dinner, and decreased physical activity. Another mental challenge I am facing during this pandemic is
the fear of losing a loved one and generalized uncertainties about the future. Disturbed sleeping
patterns during the COVID-19 pandemic were another direct influence on mental health and physical
health.
Meet friends online, arranging online fun sessions; I have often done talk therapy to reduce stress. And
playing physical sports at home with siblings strengthens the bonds between families and increased
physical activities. Moreover, do many exercises to overcome the psychological and physical challenges.
As a student, I’m trying to focus on studies more, as studies have been highly affected during a
pandemic due to changes in sleep routine. These days I slept late at night to complete my assignments
and take my online lectures in bed, which cause losing my grades and eyesight. To overcome these
habits, I had created a schedule to fix my routines and to study hard.
When the coronavirus targeted me, I saw my family members near me virtually through calls and text.
They showed their love and affection by continuously asking me about health, show more care which
was not usual in busy everyday life. That is the remarkable incident I want to share.
When I saw a daily increase in corona cases and deaths worldwide, it saddened me. Many people lost
their beloved ones in front of their eyes. It is horrible to see one is dying in front of you, and you want to
protect them; you cannot do much but sympathize and little financial help as there is no such treatment
available yet.
But when we learned the history of deadly viruses that also destroyed the world like Malaria and
tuberculosis but fixed with time, we hope that corona must be fixed one day, and we all get back to our
regular life.
In my opinion, the educational institute must be open with stick Sop’s to be followed. There must be
social distancing and frequent use of hand sanitizer and use of mask because online studies disturb
students’ learning because of no lab work. The economy needs to be revived because lockdown directly
attacks poor people who do not have money to survive. They do not even have the necessity of life, i.e.,
food. Government should grant permission to continue their businesses and jobs under strict standard
operating procedures.

Sincerely,
Abdullah
