SALAM to all
Here are some glimpses of how lockdown affected me in the recent year.
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced leaders in politics and at universities to take drastic measures that affect how citizens and students interact and socialize with each other. In many countries around the world, individuals are required to reduce physical contact to others outside one’s household. Additional measures include curfews, quarantines, and closing of non-essential stores, schools, and universities.
When the corona arrived in Pakistan I was in my college and was preparing for my F.Sc part two exams. In the beginning it was not considered a deadly virus. The early stages of the pandemic and the ensuing lockdowns were hard on all of us, in different ways. Isolation and many other challenges severely affected the mental well-being of many people around the world and so it affected me too. But with the passage of time it took peak in Pakistan and within short time hundred thousand of cases were reported. Because of this a complete lockdown happened all over country even all over the world.
At the start of the pandemic my family put some restrictions over me and thought I would follow them but I enjoyed more relaxed lockdown measures, while my family felt safer through strict self-isolation. After some time of lockdown I felt more agitated, more stressed, more restless, and more sleepless. But the worst thing was my interaction with everyone was completely ended and I had nothing to do over those months of lockdown. Secondly this pandemic affected my studies very badly.
In the beginning my college didn’t find any way for our preparation but after some time they took our online exams. But due to connectivity issues and many other factors I failed to prepare my exams online. And moreover I face too many difficulties to clear my concepts that’s why I lost my all hopes for good grades and then I never tried to study. Not having contact with anyone caused me depression. And simply it led me to insomnia. Mental stress of studies, not prepared for the exams and zero social interaction with anyone made a huge pressure on my mind. For as long as I quarantined myself I didn’t find any way to get rid of these but further on smart lockdown happened and bit relaxations were given to citizens and thus I managed to get out of these stresses.
In order to avoid the further spread of this pandemic we should first break the chain of disease transmission either local or by travelling. In addition, previously successful treatment regime in coronavirus related epidemics like SARS and MERS or in other respiratory infectious disorders may be applied to achieve suppression in the spread of this pandemic or it may be helpful in completely eradication of the pathogen from the body.
Sincerely,
Ahmed Razzaq
